Mike Ditka Jersey — Bears Throwback XXL-6X, XLT-5XLT
Before he was Da Coach, Mike Ditka was the tight end who changed what the position could be — a big, angry rookie catching passes nobody expected a tight end to catch, then running through whoever got in his way. The navy No. 89 is a Chicago original, and this page collects the Mike Ditka jersey in big and tall throwback sizes: the XXL-6X range with XLT-5XLT tall cuts, every size on its own link. Throwback jerseys big and tall move faster than current-player gear, so each size below goes straight to its own filtered view.

Mike Ditka Jersey — the Bears’ No. 89 From His Playing Days
This is the player’s jersey: the navy Bears uniform Ditka wore from 1961 to 1966, when he was George Halas’s wrecking ball at tight end. The photo below links into the Bears jersey range at Fanatics, where the Nike Ditka throwback sits with the rest of Chicago’s retired numbers. Plenty of fans reach for the No. 89 because of the ’85 sideline strut and the mustache — but the jersey honors the man who was flattening linebackers twenty years before he coached a down in Chicago.

Ditka played the way Chicago likes to think of itself — a steelworker’s son from western Pennsylvania who treated every catch like an argument. Soldier Field crowds watched him turn the tight end spot from an extra blocker into a weapon, years before the league caught on.
Ditka Sizing — Throwback Jerseys XXL-6X and Tall XLT-5XLT
The list below runs one size at a time: S, M, L and XL first, then 2X (the XXL), 3X, 4X, 5X and 6X — sizes up to 6XL — and after those the tall cuts, XLT, 2XLT, 3XLT, 4XLT and 5XLT. The early sizes open the Mike Ditka men’s department filtered to your size; the 4X and up links and the tall cuts open the full Chicago Bears men’s department in that size, which puts the deepest Bears stock in your fit in front of you — the Ditka throwback plus every Bears jersey and hoodie in the same size.
A quick fit note: throwback jerseys wear a little roomier than the slim modern game cut, which suits most big & tall fans fine. Chicago in late December is its own weather event — if you layer a hoodie under yours at Soldier Field and you’re between sizes, the bigger one is usually the safer call. Tall fans should start with the extended tall links rather than sizing up, since the length through the body and sleeves is the part a regular size-up can’t add.
One honest note on stock: throwback sizes come and go — availability can shift with stock levels and the season, and the extended sizes usually move first. That’s why every size link below opens a Bears men’s department view filtered to that size: if the Ditka jersey itself is picked over in your fit, the other Bears options in your size are right in front of you.

Interesting Facts About Mike Ditka
The Bears drafted Ditka fifth overall in the first round of the 1961 NFL draft, out of Pitt — Houston took him in the AFL draft too, and he picked Chicago. The rookie season rewrote the job description. Playing tight end, a spot mostly used for blocking, Ditka caught 56 passes for 1,076 yards and 12 touchdowns, numbers nobody had ever posted at the position. He was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Year, made the first of his Pro Bowls, and started a run of All-Pro honors that made him the fixture of the early-sixties Bears. In 1963, he helped Chicago win the NFL championship.
His playing road wound on from there: a stop with the Eagles, then Dallas, where he won Super Bowl VI as a Cowboy player — catching a touchdown pass in the game, as it happened. Five Pro Bowl selections and a reputation as the toughest man on any field he stood on carried him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988, the first tight end ever inducted.
Then came the second act everybody knows. Ditka returned to Chicago as head coach in 1982 and built the 1985 Bears — 15-1, winners of Super Bowl XX, and still the franchise’s defining team. The Bears retired his No. 89 in 2013 and said it would be the last number the franchise ever retires — the player’s number, hung up with the coach’s legend attached to it.
